Cyberpunk The Sound of Music session three recap

First off thanks to Ezra for coming up with this great logo for us.

So it finally happens, the concert is here and the Ass Martians are about to take the stage. Then we get a talking to by somebody who will make the most toughest Cyberpunks ass pucker. Morgan Blackhand.

Apparently Johnny decided he needed a bit more muscle watching over the event so he called in one of his compatriots. Who ever has been doing the mind fuck on these various corp folks has noticed us stopping a few of their 'disposals' from coming to fruition and we now have crosshairs on us. So Morgan, who was probably seeing us as worms on a big hook, gave us a lowdown. The bad guys are using people called 'Eddies' for clean up and then they are exploded as well. Rumor has it that there are three of these folks at the concert to unclog us from the piping of their plans.

Doesn't take long for one to show up back stage and get near us. But our punk asses have a little bite so we pulled our guns and laid into him with a quickness. Then the bastard blows up right in front of us spraying acid laced blood over the room. It was a damned mess.

But the show must go on and we took the stage.

The audience loved us and we managed to finish our set while we heard more gunshots from backstage as a couple more eddies made their way in. We head to the back and find out that they are apparently suicide clones, they all look alike and there is no reasoning with them. Morgan ushers us to the back so we can get out of there before he has anymore problems. We ended up in the staging area behind the concert hall where the blimp for the Night City Falcons has been prepped for tomorrows early game.

My character, Cocksucker, actually has the Pilot Dirigible skill. Yes I took it on purpose because you never see anyone using it. Morgan says if any of us can fly the thing we can take it out of there. Fuck yes I can pilot the damn thing. I think my character probably got an erection just thinking about the opportunity. So Cocksucker hops in and starts prepping it for take off while Buttfucker and Swollen Love Knuckle toss our equipment in the cabin and then get a tarp and spray paint "Ass Martians" on it to hand from the bottom of the cabin.... and we lift off.

We hook into the speakers and fly directly over the open air concert hall a bit dangerously low right as Johnny and Kenny are taking the stage. Over the loudspeakers we announce that "The Ass Martians are leaving the building" and Buttfucker starts cranking out a quick song "We're on a Dirigible" as we pass over.

Morgan gives us coordinates to fly to where he has some friends at. Then the night turns into a lot of running around and either chasing leads on Eddies or going "Oh shit it's an Eddie" as they stayed on our trail. We even hooked up with Morgan for a bit as we cut across the city. We ended up saving our friend Wally, an ex-biotech scientist who had his brain scrubbed, taking out four eddies, causing much damage to a apartment buildings front lawn, saving another guy we know named Shin from getting his brain scrubbed, causing much mayhem and consuming a load of Mexican food. Oh and stealing a van belonging to the bad guys.

We spent some of our concert money on a really nice hotel, buying spray paint and painting the van and putting our logo on the side of it and then getting into more trouble. These fuckers wanted the Ass Martians out of the way with a grudge.

We just want to get past this shit, play some fucking music and get laid. Especially since right now, we're experiencing a few minutes of fame from the concert and out antics which we kept putting up online for people to stream.

So now we wait for our next gig, Eddies to show up or getting information on where we can find the fuckers are so we can fuck them up royally. I know there is some shit I forgot or glossed over real quick, but hey I'm a guitarist that goes by the name Cocksucker in a band called the Ass Martians, what are you expecting Shakespeare?

1 - Ice Cold Killa

2 - The Ice Man

3 - DeIceR

4 - Ice-otrope

5 - Slick as Ice

Dicember 2021 - Ammo

Today Dicember says Ammo. So here we go.

One of the scifi tropes for ammunition is that it will be going caseless. No brass flying off as you fire it, everything is either the projectile or a solid fuel source that burns up when fired. Which is a neat idea and there have been some attempts at going that way in the real world with mixed results. But one thing that rings true is that caseless ammo would be less stable than standard brass jacketed ammunition. Easier to break or crumble, easier to contaminate with chemicals or oils on your fingertips. Don't forget about setting it all off by an electrical shock. Just overall something you wouldn't want to handle and maintain a high level of quality.

Therefore it would make sense to have it sealed at the factory inside a magazine. One that is resistant to chemicals, electrical shock and even sharp impacts. There would be no reloading yourself, just pull out another magazine from your pack and either toss the old one aside or into a pocket or pack.

The used magazines could then be returned for a deposit or as credit towards the purchase of more preloaded magazines. Say you pay 40 bucks for a ten round mag, then return it empty for a 5 dollar credit. If there were still rounds inside unused those can be safely recycled at the factory also so you get another 2 bucks per bullet.

Plus this lets you add to the setting flavor wise a bit. You would have folks scurrying out after a big gun fight aftermath to grab any spent and tossed magazines they could find to cash in. Homeless folks raking in everything they can get for some extra dollars to spend. Or maybe even stripping the bodies of mags and leaving all the weapons since they can be traced. Welcome to a new level of the bullet economy.

I like this so much I'll be making it part of Welcome to the City.

Now it's a Dicember entry so I need a quick way relate this to a die roll. So here we go scrounging through the aftermath for magazines to turn in.

When scrounging a recent area where a firefight has occurred you can roll to see how many tossed away magazines you have found.  For a small skirmish roll a D4 and then scale it up to a D20 (or 4D6 if you are feeling generous) for the much larger conflicts. Then at the GM discretion you can roll a D6 to see how many still had rounds left inside. For each one of those roll a D4 for the amount of unspent rounds.

Dark West session four recap

Third session down. Still using the WaRP OGL rules from Atlas Games as the engine powering the game. I've come to realize that I never introduced the characters on here. Figure I need to do that.

Pim. Retired outlaw trying to give up the gun and do right. Doesn't even carry a weapon.

Jebidiah. Young wanna be gunslinger with a big mouth.

Jasper. Bartender extraordinaire.

Diego. A vaquero who seems to drink a bit to much.

Taking place a week or so after the last session so characters could lick their wounds and heal up a bit. Everything has been quiet for our band of four. Pim stayed out at the Morgan Ranch and healed up, Jasper laid low at the bar simply doing his job staying out of trouble while Diego and Jebidiah finished up the little house out on the pile of rocks they have started calling 'Rattlesnake Ranch'.

But things weren't quiet for long. Pim got a visit from a member of an old rival outlaw gang he used to fight with. One who wore a scar across his face that Pim had placed there. Told him that when he heals up they have a score to settle. Leaving Pim on his toes for the rest of the game tonight.

Jeb and Diego got a side job as riflemen escorting the wagon hauling the gold from the mines into the town. While nothing happened they did discover that the company that laid the road to the mines ran it straight through a graveyard, knocking the markers aside and had even burned the church that used to be there some years before. They really did not like this and after working one day were considering never going back and finding other work.

Later they found the old man Jeb has harassed before was one of the folks who used to attend that church, the Silent Hills church and cemetery. But the company violently took the land and left some of the townsfolk dead as a result. Then in a rant about the owners of people behind that will suffer the wrath of God the old man slammed his cane against the ground and thunder sounded in the distance.

Then in a search for more answers about the supernatural elements taking place in the town the four make their way into the section of the city occupied mainly by Chinese workers and their families. After asking around and buying a few trinkets they really don't find out much of anything. Then Diego hears there is a tent on the outskirts of the city that sells fireworks. Something he really wants to see and mess around with.

Arriving at the big red and blue tent among the tent city with a table out front where a merchant is selling his wares. Mostly fireworks but some other explosives and gunpowder related items as well. Diego buys a small bundle and is ready to leave when they are approached by a group of local thugs in blue outfits demanding they pay them in order leave that section of town unharmed.

That goes over about as well as you can imagine. Guns are pulled Jasper takes off running the hell out of there.

In the resulting gunfight Diego flips a table over, takes part of his bundle and lights it with a lantern.... then tosses it into the red and blue tent. The one filled with all the fireworks and explosives. The GM says "um.. oh shit... okay". Then he takes off running, Jeb and Pim seeing their tough as nails friend running figure something is up and they chase after while still trying to keep themselves alive.

First the fireworks start going up, the tent is in full blaze within seconds with fireballs shooting out in all directions... in a tent city. People are panicking and running about trying to fight the flames. The characters get behind a wagon for a but then decide they need to be further away and they start running away again. Then the explosive go up, everyone is thrown to the ground, completely deafened by the blast as pieces of wagons, tents and people fly through the air. They manage to get to their feet and make their way back to the other side of the town while in a state of near shock.

The next morning they find out the death total is at least thirty people dead. Mama's had been used as a triage center to help treat the wounded. Maybe over a hundred injured. Glass shattered and broken through a large portion of the town. Chunks of rubble and debris had rained down over the entire town. The area around the crater was still smoldering and burning. They were even checking the rails at the nearby railroad to make sure they weren't shifted by the sheer force.

Nobody is sure of what happened at this point. They know there was a gun fight just before the explosion. But it's believed most of those involved may have been killed in the blast. Those who may have seen exactly what happened may have also been killed as well. A town in a state of complete shock is trying to come to it's senses on the disaster that occurred.

So in one action may western game started to resemble a Knights of the Dinner table comic.

Cyberpunk The Sound of Music session two recap

First off thanks to Ezra for coming up with this great logo for us.

Second, this is very much an adult only game and session recap. Continue reading at your own risk.

Oh and third, if you haven't read the first session recap you can find it here.

You know things are going sideways when a black AV parks in the street in front of the building your slumming in with a Zetatech corpo wanting to talk to you. But that's how it all started. Turns out that corporate guy we ran into at the coffins who was all messed up was pretty high up the chain at that corporation. Also he had been missing for two weeks. His behavior was completely and utterly different than his actual personality AND when we saw him he had a glass eye he kept taking out... he didn't have a glass eye on his record.

Top this off with the NCPD cruiser we saw showing up when we left the strung out freak was evidently not NCPD at all. They have no record of a unit in that area or recovering a person there. So now all of our building paranoia is getting justified. At least Cocksuckers paranoia is.

Things are getting hairy. And I'm not talking about Kerry Eurodyne hitting on us either. But he is cute so who knows, at least we got the gig to be his opening band at a one time show so that's something.

Trying to figure out what happened as we now have the fucking corps breathing down our necks is stressing. But we've discovered that the dead guy was popping fake Tylenol PMs that were actually a straight up military level neurotoxin. Something that would explain his odd behavior. They guy who sold him these was a new hire at a local CVS named Eddie who quite the next day. We found him looking like a Jackson Pullock painting all over the walls of his apartment. Swollen Love Knuckle got a bit of him on his boots when we stepped in there.

We retreat to the place to retreat to, getting drunk. Well okay Buttfucker was getting flat out wasted. Well okay he had been getting there most of the game. Then, believe this shit or not, things started really getting weird. Yeah they were fucking normal before this.

Another wasted out corpo slumming at a bar. Acting exactly the same way as the last guy AND popping Tylenol PMs to boot AND has a glass eye. We lift the guys wallet and find out he's a higher up at Petrochem we make a decision to try and call his security folks before we get another dead guy on our hands. Oh this fuckers been missing for two weeks also. Trauma Team is called and we stand way the fuck back so we don't get our asses shot to doll rags while they pack him up. Also we find out he picked up the Tylenol PM at the CVS across the street, from new guy named Eddie, who just left work early after the sale.

We just want to play some fucking music man.

Not to mention all through the game people were recognizing Buttfucker from the videos we uploaded that went viral as hell. Some of this data we got via Kenny and his contacts with Silverhand and his contacts with other big guys we'd rather not mention because we don't want to wake up dead. The ex corpo neighbor of ours who had gotten his brain scrubbed by Biotechnica at some point has gone missing. Oh and any attempt by runners trying to get the toxicology reports from the first dead corpo are hitting black walls really damn hard.

We just want to play some fucking music and get laid man.

The session ends as we are on the stage doing our sound check right before the big show starts. We have Nomads as security. Silverhand has evidently got Morgan as his personal security guard. The NCPD still wants to talk with us. We've now been present at two major incidents involving really fucked up corpos. I'm telling you Cocksucker is getting really worried now. This is either going to go supernova and put us all over the net, or it's going to explode and put us all over the stage and the first few rows of the audience.

We just want to play some fucking music, get laid and have enough cash to afford a full meal man.

WE ARE THE ASS MARTIANS AND WE ARE HEAR TO FUCK ALL YOU CORPORATE DRONES UP IN THE HEAD!

In two weeks session three happens.

A Twitter Story in three parts

A Twitter Story, in three parts. Or "How to over react to advice you don't like" is another title I thought about. Have to say this little interaction left me laughing. I figured since I got blocked for so little that I may as well get some mileage out of the whole thing and put up a cheap grab for a post on my blog with it.

Such a little bit of a fragile shell that one has. Guess the response was supposed to be us following him without question or something. Ah well. Tried to offer up a little bit of advice and I'll get some blog hits off of it.

Dark West session three recap

Third session down. Still using the WaRP OGL rules from Atlas Games as the engine powering the game. I've come to realize that I never introduced the characters on here. Figure I need to do that.

Pim. Retired outlaw trying to give up the gun and do right. Doesn't even carry a weapon.

Jebidiah. Young wanna be gunslinger with a big mouth.

Jasper. Bartender extraordinaire.

Diego. A vaquero who seems to drink a bit to much.

Jasper was finally able to crawl out of bed after being sick for several days (the player was unable to make the last session) and was finally able to start working the bar at The Saloon. Pim continued to work at the Morrigan Ranch and collect information on any odd occurrences. While Jebidiah and Diego worked on their little homestead built on a pile of rocks between the ranchers.

Besides a few odd sightings nothing really bad happened during the day. Come dusk they all settled back in town to relax a bit. Although Diego got everybody curious when he finally spoke up about noticing the complete lack of seeing any children in the town or even a schoolhouse anywhere. The others thought this a bit odd and when they began asking around most said they really never noticed. Others pointed out that this town isn't a good place for kids and maybe the families just moved out. After all there is always a constant stream of people arriving and then hopping on the train to leave shortly there after.

As the PC's got their drink on the night went to very dark quickly. Then as they stumbled their way back to Mama's to get some shut eye. But instead a group of shady individuals decided to give Jebidiah a bit of a warning. Telling him to leave town tonight. Of course ole Jeb didn't kindly to that and told them he would sleep on it. They laughed and said he's going to have trouble with that.

While Diego and Pim stayed outside to keep watch Jeb and Jasper locked the room up. Then the lights in all the other buildings started to go out, shutters were slammed shut and the temperature dropped down enough that they could see their breath. In short order they could see shambling ragged figured walking towards Mama's. The dead who were crucified outside of town had pulled themselves down and were now heading straight towards Jeb.

As they engaged the ghouls that were trying to make their way into the building. Things got pretty hairy from then on out. Especially whenever Jeb popped his head outside gunmen on top of nearby buildings were taking shots at him. But they quickly discovered that a shot to the head stops the walking dead, they also found out that under stress Jeb isn't that good of a shot as he accidently grazed the side of Diego who was locked in hand to hand with a dead guy. Once Pim discovered that there were gunmen on the nearby feed store he started pouring some lantern fuel all over the base of it but was shot in the back for his trouble. He did manage to strike a match and get the fire lit.

As Jasper, Jeb and Diego finished fighting off the rotting attackers inside of Mama's the Fortune Teller and her workman picked up Pim and pulled him into their wagon. Moving him out of the line of fire and patched him up. Diego runs outside to look for anymore attackers and tosses a couple of sticks of dynamite into the burning feed store.

Suddenly the temperature rises back up, lights begin coming on inside of buildings and people start scrambling outside. Many screaming fire as they attempted to save the collapsing inferno with a bucket brigade. In all the confusion the bodies of the walkers vanished but their grisly remains that were splattered about remained. The sheriff expressed some interest in talking with Diego and Jeb since they were shot, assuming that whoever the culprits who sat the feed store on fire probably shot them. They simply replied it was dark and they never clearly saw who attacked them.
