rpg.net bans for stuff off of their site
For those who post over on rpg.net I have a warning. They are back to banning people for what they post on their own personal blogs now. So even if you follow all their rules there completely they still ban you if they feel offended by something you posted someplace else.

The Miniatures Page will do that too.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason to post under various aliases.
seriously? wtf? what kind of off-site stuff merits a ban?
ReplyDeleteSupposedly a guy is a racist based on one image he put up. Also there were claims of sexist posts on his blog and twitter. One guy also chimed in saying that he did an article series on how to run the Gor setting for children... which I've actually read those two or three articles and he discusses using the Gor fantasy setting with ALL of the BDSM and sex elements completely pulled out.
ReplyDeleteThe Miniatures Page bans any discussion of its content off the site, yet the site owner apparently never deletes accounts - a fact that isn't disclosed when you register.
ReplyDeleteWow... it seems that discussing the contents of a site would actually increase the chance of more people finding it. RPGNET won't delete your accounts either and I doubt that is mentioned during account creation there either.
ReplyDeleteWell apparently they've blocked my ip at rpg.net now. I posted earlier today but for the last few hours I haven't been able to access it. First I thought maybe the site was down and then I decided to try a web proxy and what do you know it's still there. It also let me log in so I guess I'm not banned... just blocked. Guess I spoke to much on this blog or elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteImagine that.
The purge has begun! :)
ReplyDeleteEvidently it's not blocked now. However for several days I was completely unable to access the site except by a web proxy. Very interesting since I had absolutely no trouble with any other site at all.
